Energy healing, a practice rooted in ancient forms of medicine like Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, is based on the idea that energy, also known as Qi, KA, life force, Prana, etc., is the fundamental Life force that flows through all living things and keeps everything balanced, including our bodies. When it's out of balance, we feel unwell.
You’ve most likely heard about energy healing or know someone who has tried Reiki and Qigong, among many other modalities. More and more people are turning towards natural alternatives for their health and well-being or as complementary additions to conventional medicine.
Unlike conventional medicine, energy healing offers a whole-being approach that addresses the root of the cause rather than masking symptoms. This approach recognizes that physical health is deeply interconnected with spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being. By restoring and supporting the body's energy balance, energy healing aims to bring the entire being back to homeostasis, a state of vibrant health and well-being.
A balance among all body systems is needed for the body to survive and function correctly. If homeostasis is successful, you feel vibrant and well. If it’s unsuccessful, your body will let you know through various symptoms such as pain, lack of energy, brain fog, etc.
As a Spinal Flow practitioner, I facilitate the healing process to help reset your body back to a balanced state. While I have you face down on a massage table, I gently connect to access points along the spinal column, specifically the sacrum, coccyx(tailbone), occiput(base of your head), and cranium. The Spinal column begins at the base of the skull and ends at the base of the tailbone; it is an extension of the central nervous system, which directs energy along the spine, supplying organs, tissues, and cells. When I make contact at an access point, a message from my finger travels up to your brain. Your brain will recognize it, change it, and release blockages along the spine. My role is to guide this process, providing a safe and supportive environment for your healing journey. It's important to note that healing is a collaborative effort. Your active participation and openness to the process are crucial for it to be most beneficial.
The body reacts to three types of stressors: emotional, chemical, and physical. Over time, these stressors create layers that become stored in the spine, forming blockages. Imagine a river where debris has collected, disrupting the river's water flow. If you clear the debris from the river, it will flow naturally again.
The same happens with your spine. Blockages disrupt the natural flow of energy in the body, leading to discomfort, pain, and illness.
Stored layers of stress can be emotional, chemical, or physical and have
not been processed.
Emotional stress can arise from anger, fear, shame, abuse, or trauma.
Chemical stress can arise from dairy, gluten, hormones, constipation, and infection.
Physical stress can arise from giving birth, whiplash, a fall, old injuries, prolonged sitting, poor posture, and repetitive use.
Deep relaxation and stillness
Emotional release, which could be anything from laughter, tears, or any sort of sound
Energy/sensations, cold or heat sensations moving through your body
A deeper connection to yourself
A wave or flow
Body movements, twitches, or contractions
Please note that everyone's experience during a session is different. For example, some may feel body movements or twitches, and some may feel deep relaxation. Each session will be different as your body will release different blockages each time.
After each session, you may feel a bit worse before you feel better because your body is adjusting to the energetic shift and releasing toxins.
The feedback I hear from clients is that they feel lighter, relaxed, more rested, sleep better, have better bowel movements, have more energy, are clear-minded, and so on. Everyone is unique and responds differently. You may find relief after the first session, or it may take several sessions to feel a difference.
If you find discomfort after a session, returning for another session sooner rather than later is best to help move and release the blocked energy.
Remember, staying hydrated is key to getting the most out of each session, as it supports your body's natural detoxification process. Equally important, is avoiding alcohol and smoking for at least 24 hours post-session. This gives your body the time it needs to adjust and integrate the energy shifts, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the session.

"The body's energy flow, like a river, must be kept clear to avoid
stagnation and disease."
